I think the main idea of the story is that you can sell stuff to get money if you are poor you can stiil get money . like how Della sells her hair for twenty dollars to a lady called madame . She gose to a place to get the chain for Jims watch . she started with a dollar and eighty seven cents
then she got twenty dollars . As for Jim he got the expencive tortis shell comb set for Della .HE had to sell his watch to get the comb set. Jim thought della looked loke a coney island corus girl when he saw she gets her hair cut.
