The theme is about giving up something you care about for someone you Love. We start off with two people named Della and Jim they live in a cheap little $8 a month apartment.with a $20 dollar income.
Della a poor wife trying to buy something for her husband Jim. But she only had a $1.87. so she went to town and sold most of her hair for $20.00 and then went looking for gift. She found a little chain for his watch.
After that Jim the husband sold his watch and, so he could buy a gift for his wife Della. After that they both went home to exchange gift's. But they both did have what the gift were meant for. Like Della's hair and Jim's watch so in the end they both gave up somthing they care about for each other.
